ABOUT US

Bushy Tail Tribe is a family run Forest School based in 35 acres of privately owned, stunning woodland. Although we use the whole woodland to explore, our site is in a secure fenced-off within the large woodland. We run weekly sessions taking place; rain or shine. Bushy Tail Tribe supports children to explore, go back to basics and learn from their natural surroundings.

The  designated area has been selected in order to have the minimum environmental impact  on the woodland. We use the woodland’s organic resources to build a bond between children and nature. We encourage children to take age-appropriate, supported risks that have been risk-benefit assessed. Our Forest School leaders have over 10 years of  experience in childcare, a Level 3 accredited Forest School qualification, a level 3 common  core skills childcare qualification and are outdoor first aid trained. We maintain a  professional but warm approach and understand that it is our duty to educate children  about nature, the environment, how to look after ourselves and others around us; to a  very high standard. We plan according to the children’s needs and do our best to ensure that each child brings something away with them at the end of every session, whether  educationally or something they have made.

"The open air school movement originated in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century to help sickly children. Classes were taught in the middle of the forest—far away from urban centres  — with the belief that good ventilation, clean air and sunlight contributed to the overall physical and mental

well-being of the students.”
